Sep 2, 2008 - Exactly, we're all human at the end of the day and we're all related one way or another. Also just looked it up, World AIDS Day is 1st December :o)
BeckaOfSweden Says:
Sep 2, 2008 - The colors changes a lot, it's also a bit weird. The late founder, of the site curehodgkins, proclaimed Violet, but it can also stand for Domestic Violence. As red also is for heart diseases. Lime Green is the "new" color for Hodgkin's/All lymphoma but in honor of the founder Matthew Terry, I like the Violet.
BeckaOfSweden Says:
Sep 2, 2008 - Oh I love your passion!!! That's what we need! People that have their eyes and souls open, and can tell what's right and what's wrong. As you say, it's very hyped up during the time that this events take place and then during the rest of the year it gets forgotten. Although breastcancer is still the illness that get most heard of through of the whole year. It has a month, and HIV/AIDS has ONE DAY. It's just not fair.
BeckaOfSweden Says:
Sep 2, 2008 - Exactly! As you mention the stigma of HIV is high, it's ok and kind to have on the pink ribbon but if you wear the red one that must mean you or someone you know has HIV, and that we should be ashamed about it. The stigma is so broad that we don't dare to have the red ribbon on... sad.

Sep 2, 2008 - I looked it up too... thanks <3

Sep 2, 2008 - omg! i know not sayin that breast cancer isnt important bc it is but ovarian cancer is more dangerous bc by the time they find it its too late i rarly ever see anything to support anything other than breat cancer its a shame! what about all the other things that are killin ppl that we cant cure!
BeckaOfSweden Says:
Sep 2, 2008 - Yeah exactly! I'm not either saying it's not important, but why aren't there more awareness regarding everything else that's killing us, including what we do to ourselves/our earth. <333
Jenn78901 Says:
Sep 2, 2008 - you always have amazing views and topics to talk about. We should ALL be interested in finding cures for all diseases because they don't seem to be going away :(

Sep 3, 2008 - O i know!!! all the ones i know of are for some type of cancer. I have this pic i will email to u, its got a ribbon in every color and names wut its for. It says sarcoma is yellow, but all the yellow ones i see are for the army, or cancer in general.. never ever seen one for sarcoma either. everytime i see the pink one somewhere i run to see if there are any other colors but there never are :(
BeckaOfSweden Says:
Sep 3, 2008 - Yeah please do email the pic =) As I said in the video there are companies over the internet that has bracelets that you can design yourself, but the money doesn't go to any research. If I don't find a purple or lime green soon I will go crazy ;P
magicgurl7 Says:
Sep 3, 2008 - i added in some links too, i dont know where the money goes, but they have alll kinds of stuff. One thing i just noticed too lol now i'm confused. sarcoma has the yellow ribbon and then under that more specifically is Leimyosarcoma which they have as purple. lol so i guess mine is purple? idk
BeckaOfSweden Says:
Sep 3, 2008 - Thanks babe! =) Yeah I see that a lot of diseases on there has purple as their color. Hodgkins isn't in the list but I guess you and me have the same color then + you yellow and me lime green. go figure ;)
SandraLondon63 Says:
Sep 4, 2008 - Dear Becka, you are SOOO RIGHT! No offense towards those diagnosed with Breast cancer, but honestly breast cancer from all cancers is one of the ones that can now be treatable successfully not to mention the early diagnosis screening methods.
SandraLondon63 Says:
Sep 4, 2008 - Last year when I was misdiagnosed with Ovarian Cancer, I was really PISSED OFF about all the publicity that Breast Cancer receives and how Ovarian Cancer receives none, yet all WOMEN can get Ovarian Cancer and Ovarian cancer unlike Breast Cancer kills the majority of those diagnosed. I believe some of this is government crap, trying to brainwash people and using less government money.
SandraLondon63 Says:
Sep 4, 2008 - Yes, it is easier for the government to talk about breast cancer because 1) less money is needed since there are now very successful treatments to treat this, 2) other cancers that never get mentioned such as ovarian, are difficult to detect as well as they respond well to treatments. And a LOT OF MONEY is needed for research. As a consequence people diagnosed with ovarian cancer go through a lot of solitude with their illness. There are other illnesses in the same position too.
SandraLondon63 Says:
Sep 4, 2008 - Sorry I meant to say that Ovarian cancer does not respond well to treatments because more research is needed and the government does not help since it is less common than breast cancer but is still the 5th most common cancer.
magicgurl7 Says:
Sep 4, 2008 - Yea its weird how they do that, put the same color for more than one thing. I guess they would run out of colors tho pretty fast. still confusing tho!
BeckaOfSweden Says:
Sep 5, 2008 - Yeah I know what you mean. We should be thankful over all the attention that breastcancer has been given, cause otherwise the statistics would be totally dif. and more negative. Although we need the same attention on all kinds of cancer and OTHER diseases.
BeckaOfSweden Says:
Sep 5, 2008 - I get "well then you have a VERY treatable type of cancer" said to me, and yes... BUT the awareness is none, I always have to explain what it is and so on. and it took my DR 5 months to send me to the right specialist, then I were in stage 3 of 4. And the same goes for all kinds of diseases, we need to catch them before it's too late. but then we need our government on our side. Awareness is key, and money is included in that. Thanks for sharing as always beautiful Sandra, love ya!

Sep 10, 2008 - I completley agree with you. People need to make petitions or something.I am a fan of the viva glam they make the colors flattering to everyskintone and I get the christmas cards every year. I love looking at kids artwork because I know they put so much into it. I know what you mean about aids being taboo but people need to remember theres kids infected also threw no fault of there own. I wish one day we can live in a world without disease.I wish you the best. thank you for this video
BeckaOfSweden Says:
Sep 10, 2008 - I agree with you too, both on how MAC does the Viva Glam colors suitable for everyone and that kids really put in effort in their work. And yes, children are getting infected/born with it etc everyday. It's a scary thought that we aren't helping the next generation.

Sep 2, 2008 - be cool and seen as a generous person, but do they really care about finding a cure for the disease? or like I said is it just for show? Ahh hahah Becka got me worked up, I get so passionate about things like this! Racism and Animals too I can go all day talking about it! haha :)
