Aug 4, 2008 - You got lied on. Click on 'statement info' when you are looking at your bill. The Federal Universal Service Charge is a Verizon Wireless charge that is subject to change each calendar quarter based on contribution rates prescribed by the FCC. On July 1, the FUSC changed to 2.42 percent of assessable wireless charges, other than separately billed interstate and international long distance charges. The FUSC on these charges changed to 11.4 percent. For more details, please call 1.888.684.1888.

Aug 9, 2008 - took about 50 min. on the phone but i got it done....spoke with byron and his supervisor edrice at Murphys call center in Tennessee.....tell them you are recording the phone call for legal purposes. right after that she changed her mind and waived the fee.

Aug 14, 2008 - great video. im planning on doing this. i looked at the FUSC rate and it went up by $.01 since last month, so technically i can cancel. do you think ill really have a chance though, with it only being one penny?

Aug 20, 2008 - I have called verizon 3 times in the past two days trying to get out of my contract with the FUSC increase saying it was a materially adverse charge. They were not having it. I was nice and then stern and poised, and got up to supervisiors who still said the federal charge can change at any time & i have to pay SOL I would have to pay the ETF. Anyone have the same problem or any suggestions??

smkdamicz Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - I just did it, 28 minutes and a little yelling at the supervisor. Worked like a charm. Tried to credit me for the remander of the contract but i said no, I wanted to cancel. Then i asked to speak with his supervisor. He then came back on the phone and said they were going to cancel the contract with no fees. I kept quoting the "our rights to make changes" lines. It took some yelling but it worked , thanks for this vid !!!!!!!!

bigdrock44 Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - alright i've spoken to a couple of supervisors and one manager and they keep saying that since they are trying to credit me back, that no longer makes it materially adverse. i also mentioned that this could be a case for the ftc (federal trade commission) and the guy said he encouraged it. i kept saying that since they are trying to credit me back, then it is materially adverse and i should be able to cancel. but he just kept saying that they won't cancel without an etf. what do i do?

smkdamicz Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - just tell them you don't want a credit, it says nothing in the contract about a credit. You want to cancel without the ETF. Be stern, tell them they are violating there own contract then quote the last few lines of the "our rights to make changes" then ask to speak to HIS supervisor. Just keep repeating the same lines, 60 days to cancel withput the fee, etc... I started getting pissed off.

easy530 Says:

Aug 22, 2008 - THATS SUCH A GOOD IDEA!!

easy530 Says:

Aug 22, 2008 - How lenient do you think they would be if I was trying to do this and at the same time have them hold it open for me for a few hours so that I can get my number ported.

bigdrock44 Says:

Aug 24, 2008 - yeah thats exactly what i keep doing and they just keep refusing. ive called multiple times and same result. they know that i cant do anything about it. i mean i could get a lawyer but i think it would just be cheaper to pay the etf and thats just taking it too far

easy530 Says:

Aug 29, 2008 - alright i did it but it was literally a week long battle. started the dispute on saturday was told to wait for a reply for four days and finally ended the dispute today. not a total waiver but a slammin deal $195 for the cancellation of three lines. so im satisfied, plus the rep was extremely nice and tolerant and helpful. thanks for the tips. they will lie to you so be wary.

Aug 29, 2008 - My FUSC actually went down this month :(

coldfire321 Says:

Sep 2, 2008 - It went down, will this still work?

Harman916 Says:

Sep 4, 2008 - it doesnt work anymore, the fusc was on my bill i called cancellation service and the guy already new what i was going to say and what it was about.

civicn33b Says:

Sep 9, 2008 - Just spoke with a representative @ public relations he claimed there was nothing they could do, even though it says clearly in the contract i can cancel within 60 days. he said "well thats not how we interpret the contract, and becuase i have not complained about this in the past that it didnt meet the grounds to waive the fee". He said there was no way to escalate it beyond him bc he was representing the company and the PR is direct from the presidents office. I know there is some1 above him

civicn33b Says:

Sep 9, 2008 - Who and how do i proceed?

dingledorf1 Says:

Sep 17, 2008 - Or you could just make long distance phone calls to a foreign country (over seas) during your free night time minutes(For a long length of time like an hour or 2 a night). Make yourself a pain in their asses and they will kick you off. FREE

ProjectZro Says:

Oct 19, 2008 - the best affect you can use is that the fee went through late and caused an overdraft in your bank account of $300+ and its not far fetched, my girlfriend just got a fee for $365 for a $0.02 overdraft because citizens bank is a prick and a secondary fee didnt go through with the primary bill for collage.

penguinisnuts Says:

Nov 17, 2008 - no, they will just have international fees. :P

dingledorf1 Says:

Nov 19, 2008 - I don't know if that actually works sorry to anyone who actually tried it. Ummm, I think I actually saw that in a different youtube video though
