Palin talks as turkeys slaughtered behind her By David Edwards During the Thanksgiving of 1963, President Kennedy decided to let the White House turkey live instead of making dinner of it. George H. W. Bush became the first president to officially pardon a turkey in 1993. Gov. Sarah Palin brought the tradition to her state today when she ceremoniously pardoned a bird today at Triple D Farm and Hatchery in Wasilla, Alaska. But that’s where Palin departed from the normal turkey-pardoning routine. The governor gave a press conference following the ceremony where other birds could be seen being slaughtered just over her left shoulder. A reporter asked Palin if she was okay with the backdrop. The Alaskan Governor answered, “no worries.” This video is from MSNBC’s Countdown, broadcast Nov. 20, 2008.

Nov 21, 2008 - What's the difference between Sarah Palin and a turkey? The GOP doesn't have to pay $150,000 to dress a turkey.
