Military Spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara says that 2000 LTTE terrorists have been killed in attacks launched by the Security Forces so far this year. Operations at the Forward Defence Line are being successfully carried out. The troops are unleashing attacks advancing from the Muhamalai, Kilali and Nagarkovil. The Brigadier opined that the troops are successfully attacking LTTE targets advancing towards the North from Mannar, Vavuniya and Welioya. The Brigadier said the security forces are consolidating their positions and carrying out operations in Palampiddi and Periyamadu, North of Madhu. The security forces are engaged in operations in the other areas of the Welioya Forward Defence Line, such as Kiri-Ibbanwewa, after the liberation of Adampan and areas North of Yodawewa. The troops are destroying the trenches and bunkers and are conducting operations inflicting heavy damages on the LTTE.
