In my honest opinion, Mr Barak Obama needs to resolve this. Considering all these shocking statistics, i think climate change should be high on the list of priorities. This video in it's entirety may be considered offensive by some and viewer discretion is advised. It is a controversial video and some may consider it to be political. It is a reflection of our society today and expresses how I personally feel about our planet and the surrounding environment. Most facts and figures are from Wikipedia and considered correct and accurate at the time of making vid, all MPG figures are shown in American US gallons ( 3.78 litres). The reason I made this vid is to show the people of America the damage they are creating of which they seem oblivious too. I know this because mileage ratings have not increased for decades, in fact, in the last 20 odd years mileage figures have declined and carbon emissions have increased. Working backwards in effect. I am NOT anti American and am NOT racist by any means. I do not consider any country/continent superior however I believe America has the power, intelligence, technology and capital to perform better and invest the public taxes in more eco friendly investments. The USA needs to drastically lower it's overall emissions and as the continent with the highest number of vehicles per capita, I believe developing low emitting cars is an excellent start. We all know the technology to develop such cars existed years ago when cars were first made, but thanks to greedy governments were "accidentally on purpose" forgotten about. So now the government is very rich from excessive oil consumption profits, and now 30 odd years on we face a serious new threat - global warming. Many American brand automakers offer exceptionally fuel efficient vehicles to their European cousins, but do not offer them in the states where profits from oil consumers soar. It is the people that need to change therefore and need to recognize the efforts of others around the world. It is a global challenge on an enormous scale but is far from mission impossible. The days of power and muscle are over, I am no longer impressed with MPH but MPG, the same rule still applies which is: the higher the figure, the better! Together we can do this. Just to prove the greed of the government, fuel in Venezuela is 11 cents a gallon, but is $18.43 a gallon in Sierra Leone! song is Delilah by the plain white T's

Sep 19, 2008 - great video! americans are stupid! Look at a city like NY, they all use the car, and refuse to use the metro, bus or other transportation like bikes. Come and visit dutch cities, we all ride the bike! and over 1 million people each day use the train! with a total population of 16 million!

Sep 20, 2008 - Thanks for your comment! American's seem to be oblivious to the fact that they use so much oil and create so much pollution. That is why i made this vid, to make them realise and hopefully change thier attitude to global warming. Alot of places use bikes yes or even small cars, buses etc.

Sep 25, 2008 - I speak for myself, not the 300+ million others. Importing those 50+ mpg cars is expensive for the average person; it's the companies - most of whom manufacture the cars overseas. As to the 4.5% of pop. and 25% of oil consumption, if we can afford it, why not? Not as many people ride bikes as in other countries, but that's partly because many work 30-60 min. from work going 65 mph in car; that would take hours on a bike. Moving is expensive, remember; far more so than gas. Don't mean to aruge.

D41H4T5U Says:

Sep 26, 2008 - Good point, however Ford make a hatchback available in Europe that does over 80 MPG, but is not available in America? Discrimination? maybe, GM also make an Astra that does around 70 MPG, again only available in Europe. Seems unfair. I think people would care a lot more if they saw the effect the emissions were having on our climate. Some Americans are brainwashed by the government into thinking global warming is still a "theory" but you'd have to be pretty stupid to ignore the consequences.

JeepCherokeeKid Says:

Nov 23, 2008 - dude im american and i would buy a car that gets 80mpg if they had one here but there isnt and i cant afford a hybrid and the only deisles here are big trucks.belive me i really want 80mpg but i cat afford to import one. so ill keep a hyndai elentra till the day comes.33 mpg US.best i can get.

JeepCherokeeKid Says:

Nov 23, 2008 - dammit car companies piss me off! fords even get 80mpg there wtf.hey send me some money to import one and i will be glad to sell my subcompact that gets 33mpg for anouther subcompact that get 80. FUCK I HATE COPERATIONS!

D41H4T5U Says:

Nov 23, 2008 - It sucks i know, it's very unfair. Only good thing is that you have cheap fuel i suppose, which is bad in a way as it encourages people to waste it. BTW it only costs around $2000 to import, not a lot of cash.

JeepCherokeeKid Says:

Nov 23, 2008 - gas right now just went down 1.50 a gallon i know it will go back up but everyones getin huge trucks and suvs the idiots

D41H4T5U Says:

Nov 24, 2008 - They would soon regret it if thier fuel was the same price as it is in Seirra Leone at around $20 a US gallon! I think our price is just right at the moment at $6.25 a US gallon, not too expensive but not too cheap so people don't waste it.

evo8734 Says:

Nov 28, 2008 - I believe it is next to impossible to import newer used cars. They would have to come as a kit car. The US gov't has made it next to impossible to import. Double taxes, cannot register car for the road, has to meet US saftey standards.

D41H4T5U Says:

Nov 28, 2008 - The safety standards are much higher in Europe so passing US standards would not be an issue, however importing should not be necessary. If ford and GM can make cars that do over 70 MPG, then why can't they manufacture them in the states? It's got to be a scam.

evo8734 Says:

Nov 28, 2008 - For sure a scam.

Nov 30, 2008 - Funny a Brit blaming America for the ills of the World. The sun never set on the Empire- so therefore Brits were able to oppress some group somewhere in the World every minute of a 24 hour day (the boar-war concentration camps, carving the mid-east like a xmas turkey, the African slave trade, I can go on). Hello, BP is a British company and The Brits are the biggest investors in the American market. Wow, typical human nature. Blame, blame, blame when you can't clean up your own mess.

D41H4T5U Says:

Nov 30, 2008 - The statistics speak for themselves, there's no excuse for such waste, consumption and destruction for the planet. People will be people, America, Europe, Asia we're all guilty for killing each other in some way or another, but the planet is a different story: We only have one and we all have to live on it. I could get personal about the American people, but i won't.

Travieso78702 Says:

Nov 30, 2008 - Look, I would buy a car that gets 100 mpg, but no car company makes it anywhere. What you say is an Amer. problem is a global prob. all the car companies own each other (Ford owns Mazda, etc.) No one in the US are buying the gas guzzlers that is why the industry is in trouble. It's not the amer. people, its a global industry out of touch. Americans want fuel- saving cars..... Also, I could get personal about the Brits, but I won't. The facts speak for themselves on British history.

D41H4T5U Says:

Nov 30, 2008 - We would all buy cars if they did 100 MPG, and the fact of the matter is, by 2010 there will be plenty on the car market. My point of making the vid was to make people more aware of the energy they are using and the depletion of the natural resources, especially the nonrenewable ones such as oil. Like i said, it's nothing personal against the Americans, i have been there for a total of 2.5 months and the people are nice and friendly. I want to help people change their ways, that's all.

Travieso78702 Says:

Nov 30, 2008 - Fair enough, and if that was your intent, I applaude you. It seemed like your video was more anti-american, when I'm more anti-corporate. Everyone I speak to at work, etc. complain about cars with low mileage and it takes months to get a Prius here in Austin. Look at the behavior of the car execs, in their private jets, to D.C. for the bail-out hearings. They just don't get it. No one wants their cars. People want fuel efficiency. So, bravo. Apologies if I read this the wrong way.

D41H4T5U Says:

Dec 1, 2008 - No hard feelings, sometimes the best way to get people's attention and make them listen is with controversial statements, which initialy may be interpreted as "anti American" etc. One of the best forms of publicity is controversy, as the papers will tell you! I find it unfair that the US government doesn't offer high MPG vehicles in America, Ford/GM both produce cars in Europe that do over 80 MPG so why can't they market them in the US? The people of US need to know this to help change things.
