Boy, the regional was sure fun. It was...um...VERY hot. It was about 110 degrees in the shade on Saturday. Friday and Sunday weren't so bad, but it was still much hotter then Dazzle was ready for. She spent a lot of time under a hose and Saturday afternoon we drove to a nearby river to cool off. I got to start a new stage in my recovery from ACL surgery. The very morning we drove down to Oregon I got to try out jogging at physical therapy for the first time in six months. It is pretty restricted jogging: not too fast, not too long, no sudden stops, straight lines only, and only with my new functional brace on. But heck, it's jogging. I couldn't be more thrilled. Soooooo, that means that I can kind of sort of run on course, but not really. Front crosses are absolutely not allowed and like I said, only running in straight lines - but it's progress! It really helped our weekend for me to be able to move a little more. Because of my restrictions we still couldn't compete very competitively but she did super despite that! Not picture perfect runs by any stretch, usually due to me not moving when I should or something, but there were moments of brilliance. she missed a few weave entries, not totally surprising considering her last two trials were on 24" weaves and these are considerably closer. She also knocked a few bars, although not too many. As you can see in the video - she totally crashed through one in Gamblers. On Sunday we actually Qd in all three of our runs. AND (major brag here) one of those runs was Snooker where she knocked the first bar and totally wrecked my beautiful plan so the whole run was improv, but it worked anyway! No placement, but we did Q. I couldn't believe that we pulled it off. I took a little bit of other video (as in not us) but not a lot. I might upload a video showing some of the other dogs at regionals later. NEXT YEAR, crossed figures I stay un-injured, we hope to be a little more competitive at this event. Dazzle really loves USDAA so you can expect to see a bit more of it in the future!

Jul 6, 2008 - Nice!! That Pairs run looked really fun! Is that only in USDAA trials?

KatsDogs Says:

Jul 6, 2008 - It is fun! I think USDAA is the only one (in the US anyway) that offers that kind of team event as a titling class... (NADAC has teams at Championships but not at trials)
