The enthusiasm of the people involved was amazing and the results are outstanding. These films were produced on shoe-string budgets (carved out of the channel's on-air budget) but the passion, creativity and dedication of those making them managed to overcome the limitations and exceed all expectations. The Shorts for Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, Discovery Real Time and Travel & Living were commissioned by Claudio Scotto Di Carlo (Channel Director, Discovery Networks in Italy). All films were produced by Federico Gaggio (Creative Director & Executive Producer) with a selected group of writers, directors and producers in Italy, Germany and the UK. ------------------------------------------ The La Quebrada Cliff Divers are a group of professional high divers, based in Acapulco, Mexico. They perform daily shows for the public, which involve diving 45 metres (148 ft) from the cliffs of La Quebrada into the sea below. During the night, they often hold torches while diving. Acapulco cliff diving was regularly featured on weekend sports television programming in the United States during the 1960s to 70's when film stunt man Ray Austin made the dive. Although cliff diving at La Quebrada had taken place for many years, it was not until 1934 that the La Quebrada Cliff Divers was formed. La Quebrada (Spanish for "gulch" or "ravine") is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Acapulco, Mexico. Divers entertain tourists by jumping off the 45 meter high cliff. The divers must calculate the right moment to jump to catch an incoming wave and avoid serious injury or death. Occasionally jumpers dive with a torch. Most of the diver come from family of Quebrada divers. In one of the walls of the cliff there is a path and a restaurant where tourists gather to watch the human divers and to view pelicans diving for fish. credits: ...:.::lukA\::..:..
