Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayaka has observed that the victory in the Eastern elections is a strength for the war heroes to win the North. He asked as to who paved the way for the democratic structure in the East. The Province was liberated due to the strength of the brave soldiers. The victory achieved on Sunday would undoubtedly strengthen the morale of the troops. With that victory the brave soldiers will be interested in liberating the North from the terrorists. The era of preying on the innocent children and Buddhist priests should end. It can be done only by destroying Prabhakaran and the terrorism represented by him. The Prime Minister was speaking at the launching of the second stage of the "Virumawa Surakimu" programme targetting the welfare of the mothers of war heroes, who sacrificed their lives in the battlefront. The event was held at the John De Silva Memorial Theatre under the patronage of First Lady Shiranthi Rajapakse. It is a concept of Kusuma Wickramanayake, President of the Seva Vanitha Unit of the PM's Office. The first stage of the programme was worked out last year when 104 mothers received assistance. Cash and goods were handed over to 200 mothers under the second stage.
