Among those in attendance were the biggest young stars from the film, television, and music world. Some of those included "Heroes" actress Hayden Panettiere, actor Chad Michael Murray, and rapper Chris Brown. The show, which was hosted by actress and singer Miley Cyrus honored celebrities in film, television, music, sports, and fashion, by giving them full size surfboards as awards. While Teen Choice does include 57 different awards categories, only a handful of them were handed out during the award show. The night kicked off with Will Smith, who took home the award for Choice Action/Adventure Summer Movie. "Gossip Girl," the recent U.S. hit, won six Teen Choice Awards for TV drama, breakout show, breakout male actor Chace Crawford,breakout female and TV drama actress Blake Lively and TV villain Ed Westwick. Among other winners of the night were "Heroes" star Hayden Panettiere, and boy band pop-act The Jonas Brothers, who took home six award, including one for Choice Summer Song for their hit "Burnin' Up." Miley Cyrus, the fifteen year old host of the show, also went home with three awards including Choice Music Female Artist and Choice TV Actress in a Comedy. Soccer player David Beckham also received an award. Beckham, who attended the show with his wife and three sons, said he was honored by the award. "For an English soccer player to receive this here in the U.S., I'm very honored." Another show highlight included a dance competition between a team headed by Miley Cyrus, who received help from rapper LL Cool J, and dance troupe ACDC who were joined by rapper Chris Brown. At the end of the nigh, Fergie "declared" the dance battle champion to be Miley Cyrus and her M&M cru.
